Implementing environmental solutions – the QUEST for energy savings.

  • Carrier’s new power-saving mode is a software-based control option for Carrier Transicold refrigeration units with ML3 and ML2i controls.
  • Developed and tested by Carrier, Wageningen University and Research Centre (UR) in the Netherlands, and Maersk Line, the QUEST power-saving mode leads a new generation of energy-saving solutions for transporting perishable food.
  • It governs the run-time of container refrigeration system, and cycles refrigeration on and off based on temperature settings of specific perishables.

Maersk Line, the first in the shipping industry to adopt QUEST power-saving mode, estimates that when it is fully implemented throughout the fleet, it will be able to reduce its emissions by 325,000 tons each year.
